Cinema Mo Cap Now Available!

We are pleased to announce the release of Cinema Mo Cap on the Unity asset store today! Cinema Mo Cap is a Unity3D extension that allows Unity users to quickly capture humanoid animations using their Microsoft Kinect. Take a look at some of the neat things you can do with Cinema Mo Cap on our YouTube channel.

With this tool you can quickly capture humanoid animations without ever leaving Unity. It integrates with Unity’s animation system called Mecanim, which means the animations you capture can be re-targeted to any other humanoid model. Cinema Mo Cap is the perfect tool for indie developers who want to add a touch of realistic human motion in their game project. It is also ideal for quickly prototyping games by combining your existing generic animation library with Cinema Mo Cap for unique and specialized actions.

Cinema Mo Cap works for both versions of Unity 4.x+ Free and Pro and requires a Microsoft Kinect. Once you install Cinema Mo Cap from the Unity asset store and the Kinect SDK, all you need to do is plug in your Kinect and you are ready to start capturing animations. Once you have the tool open and the Kinect on, you can create a preview model and play around with it to see how it reacts to your motion. Once you are done recording, your captured data will import into Unity like any other animation. Because the newly created animation is compatible with Unity’s Mecanim tools, you can change options to trim the length, animation playback speed, loop poses, and many other things.
