The biggest update to Cinema Director so far…

Cinema Director Character Track in Unity

Cinema Director Character Track in Unity

A couple of days ago we launched an update for Cinema Director, to the Cinema Suite Store as well as the Unity Asset Store.

It is the biggest update we have done for Cinema Director since its launch in August, and brings to the table a bunch of new features. The most obvious change is a 4th kind of group: the Character Group: a group made specifically to handle humanoids, made up of dialog tracks and mechanim tracks. Mechanim tracks let you control animation controllers are particularly awesome as they will now preview live in edit mode (yes!) giving users a whole new level of precise control of their cutscenes. This requires us to go through and “bake” all of the mechanim motions in the scene, so we can then jump and scrub to any point in the time without playing the whole scene out. This led us to add a “refresh/bake” button to Director so if you change something in your scene you can manually press the refresh button to re-bake the scene and preview/scrub the scene.

If you’re into making your own Track Groups (which we highly encourage!) your custom creations will now show up in the “create” drop down, just like the 4 default options.

We’ve also introduced cutscene skipping and looping cutscenes as options, as requested.
You can check out the full change log on the forum here.
